Course Description
The ASMS virtual Advanced Closure Course provides detailed lectures, combined with photographic and engagingly instructive video presentation material of reconstruction techniques. The challenges of facial reconstruction and a multitude of closure options are discussed in detail, with ample time allowed for faculty Q&A. The course will include in depth presentations of nasal and cheek repairs, step-by-step details of paramedian forehead flaps, eyelid anatomy and eyelid reconstructions, a breadth of ear reconstructions, and a broad discussion of complications and their resolutions as well as potential preventions. This course is designed to help dermatologic surgeons take their closure techniques and decision-making confidence to the next level.

ASMS members will have a fourth opportunity to take the Micrographic Dermatologic Surgery subspecialty exam given by the American Board of Dermatology from September 23-28, 2024. Registration for the exam will be through the American Board of Dermatology website and expires 5/10/24. The pass rate in the last two years was very high (90-95%), indicating that our members prepared adequately for the exam.
Based on feedback from our members who took the exam, the ASMS has attached a Study Guide listing the resources that were useful in preparing for the exam. The ASMS encourages all our eligible members to take the exam knowing that, with sufficient study, the pass rate is quite high. There are only TWO more annual dates to take the exam for those who have not completed an ACGME-approved fellowship. Please don't miss this opportunity to join hundreds of your colleagues who are already Board Certified in MDS. You can do it too!
